Navigating the Job Market

For our UX/UI project, we identified a pain point in the process of job searching/ the market in genreal, specific to the user (recent grudate students aged 22-28). To address this, we conducted user interviews to understand the challenges students faced with UserTesting + in person interviews. Through this research, we found these needs: 1. A more centralized system, consolidating all job boards, reducing the need for a user to navigate multiple different platforms. 2.Implement application status tracking system, eliminating the need for tracking on external spreadsheets. 3. Customization tools for resumes and cover letters, utilizing AI or other tools to tailor resumes/cover letters to specific job descriptions. Allowing candidates to navigate easily to these documents for similar job postings. 4. Supporting users, This is a tough process in a competitive market. We should find ways to increase transparency between employers and applicants, and reduce frustration and burnout. including syllabus content, grading difficulty, and exam types. Using these insights, we are going to desing a job searching system that will help recent graduates to navigate the job market more efficiently.

Revised Problem Statement

We want to understand the specific challenges recent graduates face when applying for entry-level positions, including the time-consuming activities of navigating different job boards, customizing resumes and cover letters to various job postings, and managing or tracking application timelines. Furthermore, we want to investigate the emotional toll that the process takes on job seekers, who may face constant rejection or uncertainty and lack support overall.
